Privacy policy

Unlike most of our content, our privacy policy is pretty boring. We’re proud of that. If you’d like an inbox full of important messages from our “select business partners,” you’ve come to the wrong place.

Bottom line We go out of our way to protect our readers’ privacy and disclose our methods and intentions. If we collect any personal information, we do so with your knowledge and participation, and we won’t share it without your explicit consent.

Personal information

Some pages on our site include forms that ask for names, addresses, phone numbers, email addresses, and other personal or demographic information. This information is collected only with your knowledge and participation. We do not share or publish this information unless explicitly authorized by the user.

Statistics and logging

We collect information site-wide, including anonymous site statistics. We log domain names and IP addresses. This information is used to gauge site traffic, learn what features are popular, maintain security, and figure out how to improve our site.

We also aggregate users’ preferences. This allows us to deliver targeted advertising on our website, which spares our readers the annoyance of irrelevant ads. We will not sell or otherwise share information regarding individual users’ preferences to other organizations.

And unlike many other sites, we can stand by our promise because we run everything. We write the software. We manage the servers. We write the content. We even manage our own ads. There’s no secret third party to undermine your privacy.

Our content management system uses cookies to personalize what you see. It’s nothing to worry about. The only cookies that can track you across multiple websites are third-party cookies, and we don’t use those.
